Guidance for using the ShankaraSetu app of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham
Welcome to Shankara Setu, the official community app of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. This guide explains how to move around the app, use each feature, take part respectfully, and manage your account. If you need more help, our support details are at the foot of the page.
The App is provided, operated, and developed by LegalCraft Solutions Private Limited ("we", "us", "our"), a company incorporated in India with its registered office at Level 3, Nirvanaz, Road No 36, Jeep Showroom Building, Near Jubilee Hills Checkpost, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad 500 033. The App is built on the Converse platform and serves the community of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. We are the party responsible for your personal data under applicable Indian law.
On the welcome screen you can Sign Up for a new account or Sign In to an existing one, using either:
You can change the app language from the selector at the top of the sign-in screen. By continuing, you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which are linked on that screen. If you forget your password, use Forgot Password? to reset it.
The Forum tab is your main feed. It shows the latest posts from the Peetham community. You can filter the feed using Show All, All From Admin, or Groups, and search for a post using the search bar.
Tap the + button on the Forum to open the Actions sheet, where you can create content and invite others.
Choose Poll, enter your question and up to four options, then tap Done. Members can then vote and see the results.
Choose Event, add a title, description, start and end date and time, and optional media, then tap Create.
From the Actions sheet you can also Invite Member — By Email or by Share Link — and create a Message, Circle, or Group, or Join Group.
The Message tab holds your private and group conversations. You can filter them by Show All, Friends, or Members.
Chats show a notice that messages are end-to-end encrypted, meaning only the people in the chat can read them. Messaging is for community purposes and should not be relied on for emergencies.
The Dashboard tab is the heart of the app. From here you can open every community section, grouped into:
Please read the Guidelines at least once — they set out how to take part respectfully in this sacred space.
Open Members from the Dashboard to browse the community directory. Use Advanced Search to find someone, open a member's profile, and from there connect or send a message. You can also Invite Member to the community.
Groups are organised into categories — for example, Schools & Education Centres or the Bhagavadgita Community. You can browse by Categories or by Groups, join a group, or create one with Add a Group.
Circles are your own private groups for communicating with chosen members. Create one with Add a Circle.
Open Events from the Dashboard to see upcoming events with their dates, times, and details, and switch to the Events Calendar for a calendar view. Important Dates lists key days such as pujas and festivals.
Where offered, you can add an event to your device calendar; the app will ask permission to access your calendar and let you choose which one to use. Adding an event only writes that single event, and you can remove it later.
The Resources area of the Dashboard is a library of spiritual material:
You can bookmark items to find them again quickly under Bookmarks.
Your Personal Dashboard brings together your own activity and profile:
Open My Profile and tap Edit to update your name and details.
The Notifications tab keeps you informed about activity across the community, such as new-user account activations, complaints and their reviews, post moderation updates, profile likes, profile views, and community announcements.
There are two types of notifications in Shankara Setu:
The app only asks for a permission when a feature needs it, and only after you allow it. You can change any of these later in your device settings; some features may not work without the related permission.
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Camera | Taking a photo for a post or message. |
| Microphone | Recording a voice message or audio for a post or message. |
| Photos & media | Choosing existing photos or videos to share, and saving media you download. |
| Files & documents | Attaching a document to a post or message. |
| Calendar | Adding an event from the app to your device calendar. |
| Notifications | Sending you the alerts and reminders described above. |
